How to Know if Online Colleges are Right for you

There are quite a few angles to this topic but i want to address it in the way it is supposed to. More than half of those people  who are planning to enroll for an online college are usually undecided and somehow confused. The biggest question i guess is usually, "Will my degree be recognised" plus a few other questions.

I wish to address a few other things before i jump into this topic. First you need to look at your options in relations to where you are and your environment. For instance, if you are outside the US or other developed countries, it is very difficult to get recognized after you complete your online degree, this is because of corruption and conduct. Most of employers want your report from chancellors or school board in order to know your character.

Am not selling anything here so this is purely my opinion and you can differ with it if you like. But if you are justing doing your first degree,  i wouldn't recommend you do it online. Online degrees are best for people who are advancing their careers or just want to get another degree. It is very wise to seek guidance from professionals before jumping into it.

When you have made your decision, or before you do so, here are a few "measurements" that will tell you if  attending an online college is right for you.

Self-Discipline and Motivation

From someone who has successfully completed a couple of online courses however irrelevant to what you want to do, i would strongly recommend that you evaluate yourself first to see if you have the required self motivation and discipline to study online by yourself. If you lack these, you will have to get someone to push you because it is going to be extremely difficult.

Ability to set and work on your own goals

If you are one of those people who set a goal and never achieve, online college is NOT for you. When you study online you need to set both short term and long term goals. For instance, you need to set goals for daily study, daily assignments, covering chapters and so forth. SOme online courses are very flexible and sometimes they will add you more time to complete a unit but this is not the case for Examinations.

Reading Comprehension

This is sometimes a natural ability, you can develop it over time, but you need it to be able to successfully to pursue an online degree. The are those people who have to be taught by someone in order to comprehend and there are those who can do it by themselves. With online studying, you are basically alone and you need to have good comprehension skills in order to grasp what you are learning.

If you feel i have left something out, or you disagree with me please tell me in the comments.
